ABOUT MARPHEEN

A longtime Portland resident, Marpheen Chann is a bridgebuilder and a trusted community leader running for Cumberland County Commission in the Democratic Primary. Born into a refugee family and later adopted by a working class family in rural Maine, Marpheen became the first Cambodian-elected official in Maine in 2021 when he was elected as an At-Large Charter Commissioner for the City of Portland. He also served 5 years on Portland’s Planning Board, navigating tough and complex issues like zoning, housing development, and sustainability.
